Tópico: High pitched screeching noise....again!!! - Page: 2
Sorry forgot to say what is “hw”? Thanks

Hardware

I don't do Mac but thought it did not use ASIO drivers?

Yep my mistake, no asio or wasapi for macs (i is idoit :-I)

if the sound is as described, i am convinced it is a sample. This kind of intermittent fault needs experimenting with to be recreated at will.

I have only got the samples that come with VDJ. I've never used them and only just found them and none in there sound anything like it

I listened to the sound that you posted to YouTube. Is that the actual sound, or something that you created to mimic what it sounds like to you? Also, it seems as it is a two part sample, one short and one a little longer. Is that what you hear, with the same interval?

No that's purely a sound that is similar as someone posted that it seems like the same problem they have, they described it as Stripped Disc so i just googled it and found that. When it happens the sound is constant

I don't know whether this may be part of the problem or not but i'm getting conflicting opinions as to whether i should be using Core Audio or Bit accurate settings. Can anyone advise?
Im using a Numark usb controller and have a choice in Audio set up to use either of the choices. Ive been getting this noise interference on some tracks with the setting at Core Audio. I have up to date drivers for the Numark device installed and using Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
Under the Core Audio setting i get the following :- 44 100 Hz 4 chan out 0 chan in, 512 samples
Under the Bit accurate setting i get :- 44 100 Hz 4 chan out 0 chan in, 256 samples

Might switching to Bit accurate help and should i be using that anyway?
Many thanks again for help to date

One of the Mac guys will be here to help you with that question.

So, have you run this in automix without the controller, at home to see if it still happens? Did you try re-installing the software? If not, don't do both at the same time, because then we won't know which one worked. If you re-install, make sure you say "NO" when asked about settings.

Im running at home now and all ok so far. Trying not to change too much at once. I'm hoping maybe changing to Bit Accurate may be it plus giving VDJ exclusive audio access. I haven't reloaded software yet

You gave "exclusiveaudioaccess" a yes awhile ago, correct?

yes i did

Can one of you Mac guys please answer this question from this user, thank you.

No one?

Since he has the controller, it would be easiest for him to try if Bit Accurate fixes the problem for him.

In general, which should he be using? Say he didn't have this issue, would it make a difference which one he used? Are Mac users favoring one over the other?

Bit Accurate seems to be lower latency for his controller. I don't know if it is generally better.

Hopes this gives him some insight, thank you.

Thanks guys, i used Bit accurate last night out playing live and no issues, all ok. Time will tell though as its been ok before but that was using Core Audio.
Thanks for advice to date though

Hi, Soory guys i need to re post this message as it's still happening. For a couple of months now I'm getting a random high pitched screeching sound coming through the speakers when playing tracks. It comes on randomly, sometimes after an hour, sometime two and sometimes not at all. If i shut down laptop and restart VDJ then all ok. But then it may happen again. This has happened at different venues using different decks, different speakers etc. The only common factor is my Macbook pro and VDJ8. Never had this with VDJ7. It's happened with Macbook power lead not in use so nothing to do with that and Macbook not reaching critical temps whilst it happens. Friend last night who has a bit of an idea of sound systems suggested it was software problem and reckons it sounded like a latency problem.
Has anyone got any ideas on what this might be and how to stop it happening as its starting to get embarrassing now. I've changed the leads, software is up to date. I can't find any setting where you can adjust latency. Non in VDJ and non in the driver setting of the latest numark Omnicontroller.
Any one any ideas?
Many thanks

SOLVED IT!!!! Change pitchQuality option from 3-4 to 2 or 1.

I emailed them and they replied with this:

"This issue seems to be isolated to intel based macs running newer versions of Mac OS. In VDJ go to settings->options tab-> search for the option PITCHQUALITY and change from 2 to 1 (less resources needed) or 3 (more resources needed)"
